Steel shot is a common wear-resistant material, widely used in machinery, shipbuilding, automobile and container industries. Its performance advantages have been widely recognized after being tested by a large number of users. It has a dense structure, uniform particle size, moderate hardness, and good impact resistance, making it the best choice for shot blasting. However, as a casting product, steel shot cannot be avoided during production due to casting defects such as hollowness and special shapes. This defect is not the main reason for the increase in consumption. What is hollow steel shot? In daily testing, we often refer to cavities and shrinkage cavities as hollowness. Cavities and shrinkage cavities are defined in the national standard GB/T18838.3-2008. Cavity: an inner hole with a smooth surface, the area of which is not more than 10% of the cross section of the particle. Shrinkage: refers to an inner hole with a rough dendritic surface or microporous area, the area of which is not more than 40% of the cross section of the particle.

According to this definition, some products cannot be considered hollow: (1) The surface is concave due to shrinkage; (2) The cross-sectional area of the pinhole is less than 10% of the cross-sectional area; What are the factors that affect consumption? Hollowness will affect the consumption of abrasives, but it is not the main reason for the increase in consumption. As a well-known abrasive manufacturer, Daya's production is strictly in accordance with the standards of the Ministry of Metallurgy. The quality of steel shots is strictly controlled at every level to reduce the proportion of hollow and special shapes to a minimum, strictly controlling it below 5%. If the consumption of steel shots has increased relatively compared to before, it is necessary to consider whether the following situations exist: 1. Whether the production volume has increased recently 2. The abrasive hardness or particle size is not suitable 3. During the use of the shot blasting machine, whether the shot speed and angle are adjusted 4. Whether the air volume of the dust collector has been adjusted, and whether the equipment is leaking 5. Changes in the size of the workpiece, sand adhesion, rust and other conditions have changed
