The difference between steel shot and cut wire shot

　　1. The shape of steel shot is spherical, with few physical defects, no internal defects and more impact resistance. Cut wire shot is cut from raw wire or cooked wire and is cylindrical. The shape of cut wire shot is irregular, the length is different, and the cut is uneven.

　　2. The roundness of steel shot is good. After the spherical impact, the point of force on the workpiece is regular, the force is uniform, and the hardness is moderate, so the rebound is better. The shape of cut wire shot is irregular, the point of force is also irregular, and the force is uneven, so the rebound is not good. Due to its spherical shape, the wear of steel shot is gradual. During use, a good ratio of large and small particles will be formed. The coverage rate of steel shot is good, and the efficiency of shot blasting cleaning is higher. Cut wire shot is irregular in shape, with little wear in the early stage, and it will burst into powder in the later stage. It cannot form a suitable ratio of large and small particles. Therefore, the coverage rate of shot blasting is low, and the cleaning efficiency is not as high as that of steel shot. Practice has proved that the cleaning efficiency of steel shot is 20% higher than that of cut wire shot.

The flowability of cut wire shot in the cleaning equipment is poor, and the force on the blasting head and other parts of the shot blasting machine is uneven, causing the wear of the equipment to increase. The life of the wear-resistant parts of the equipment using steel shot as abrasive is more than four times that of cut wire shot, so the maintenance cost of the shot blasting equipment is reduced and the service life of the whole machine is longer.

　　4. The surface of the workpiece after cleaning with steel shot is delicate and bright, with good surface quality, which provides the grade of the workpiece. Due to the irregular shape and edges of cut wire shot, the force thrown at the workpiece at each angle is different, which ultimately leads to a rough and dull surface of the workpiece.
