Steel shot is a widely used abrasive, which plays an important role in aviation, machinery, casting and other industries. The steel shot is a kind of spherical particle, which is made of special materials through special heat treatment. When making steel shot, it is necessary to melt high-quality steel blocks first, and then spray the molten steel with high-pressure water to form particles.
The steel shot has different sizes, specifications and hardness. Hardness is an important standard of steel shot, which is related to the service life and effect of steel shot. How is the hardness of steel shot described? The hardness of steel shot can be defined and described by hardness indicators. There are three commonly used indicators, namely Brinell hardness, Rockwell hardness and Vickers hardness.
1. Brinell hardness
Use a hardened steel shot with a certain diameter, under a certain load (p), press it into the surface of the test piece, stay for a period of time, remove the load, and measure the area of the indentation. The smaller the indentation, the greater the resistance to plastic deformation (i.e., hardness), and the greater the hardness, expressed in "HB".
2. Rockwell hardness
Under the specified external load, vertically press the steel shot or diamond indenter into the surface of the test piece to generate indentation, test the indentation depth, and calculate the Rockwell hardness using the Rockwell hardness calculation formula HR=(K-H)/C. In short, the shallower the indentation, the higher the HR value, and the higher the material hardness. It is expressed as "HRC". It represents that the indentation depth of the test piece is 0.08mm when the diamond cone indenter with a tip angle of 120 ° is used under the test load of 150kg.
3. Vickers hardness
The diamond square pyramid with a top angle of 136 degrees is used as the indenter. The steel shot is pressed into the surface of the test piece under a certain load, leaving a square indentation. The hardne
