In order to produce steel sand, steel shot must be produced first. At present, the most common methods for producing steel shot are injection method and centrifugal method.
1. Injection method
Steel shot produced by injection method can be divided into water injection method and air injection method due to different injection media. In water injection method, the angle between the injection direction of high-pressure water flow and the flow direction of metal flow can be perpendicular. The external water flow is pressurized by a high-pressure water pump and then ejected to break the metal flow into granular droplets. These metal droplets become spherical due to the effect of surface tension during flight, and then fall into the water to cool and solidify.
2. Centrifugal method
A device for producing steel shot by centrifugal method. This device consists of a bottom leakage limiting pouring cup, a rotating granulating cup, a rotating mechanism and a high-pressure oil supply system. The higher the motor speed, the finer the pellets; conversely, the lower the motor speed, the coarser the pellets.
